LO3: Justifying Codes and Conventions

Sounds that are used in the Podcast

Station Jingle

For my station jingle, i created an electronic instrumental that should last no more than 30 seconds when in production. The reason why i picked to have the introduction as electronic is because the i want my station jingle to instantly get my audiences attention, and to let them know that the podcast is starting. The reason why i want my station jingle to be different to the focus genre in this podcast episode, is because the whole purpose of my podcast is about music as a whole and not just one specific genre.

Main song for Podcast

For the main song of the podcast it follows in the chosen genre of topic which is country. This soundtrack here is what the guest of the podcast is going to use for his "country song". The reason why this idea still reflects my codes and conventions, is because it is still following my chosen genre while staying on topic with the structure of my podcast and the script. Having the soundtrack lasting around 10 minutes allows the guest to make up as much lyrics as possible needed for their song. Because the app i used is very simple with editing, i can copy and cut sounds from the track and merge them together to make a 3 minute song with 10 minutes worth of soundtrack.

Sound for Podcast

The sound for the podcast will be used when we introduce what kind of genre is being spoken about. The reason why i put this is in is to give the audience i brief idea of what is likely to be heard in a country song (if they don't know). However, it is also used a reference to films and series that often use this kind of sound when the scene cuts to a western location (mainly seen in cartoons), i want to use these inspirations to continue expanding on the constant use of referencing the topic in question on the podcast. The duration of this sound should be no longer than 5 seconds, which gives me the ability to use it at random times throughout the podcast.

The 2025 Grammy's award

One of the main focus point in my Podcast will be talking about the Grammy's, as i will get the guest on the show to talk about their thoughts and views on the winners. I will mainly ask about his thoughts on a country album winning album of the year (must be positive), along with asking how hard it would be for an unknown artist making it into the big four. The reason why i want to reference The Grammy's into my podcast, is because it shows how popular country music is. This will also allow me to continue to reference my chosen genre allowing me to stay on track with the purpose and not go off topic.

Most streamed songs in March 2025

For another topic that i will add on to the podcast is the controversy over streams vs album sales. The reason why i want to add this into the podcast is because it allows us to change topic to keep the audience engaged in the podcast as eventually they will get tired hearing the same genre for long periods of time.

Title and Design Ideas

The reason why I wanted to create a logo for my podcast, was because I felt like just having the standard image that you see from an audio file takes away the title of the podcast/ radio that you have created. This makes my podcast more presentable as the choice of colour that has been used makes the podcast look very appealing to an audience.

What Will My Podcast Be About

My podcast will be based around the recent Grammy awards that has just gone this year.
The following genre that i want to use as the primary source is country. By doing this i will have my actor for the show put on an accent and brag about a country album being number one in the Grammy's.

How will i achieve this?

To achieve this i will use the Grammy's website and use the research there. However, the script will be short as there will be times where i will get us both to go off script, as i want some reactions to be genuine and unexpected, which will allow me to have some of the podcast feel less scripted.
I will also create my own sounds for the podcast as i can either use online tools to create a form of country background music.

Other additional topics to talk about

  • Predictions for 2025
  • Would you make it as an artist in this generation
  • Will country make the top 5 again.

Duration

The duration of the film will last from around 10 to 20 minutes, depending on how long i make the topic conversations last will determine how long the podcast lasts.

How many people on the podcast?

The amount of people i would want on my podcast will be around 2 to 3 people, as i will be the main host of the podcast itself, i could also have a secondary host, along with the guest as they will also be the most important part of the podcast.

Sponsors

In my podcast before swapping into different kinds of topics, i will do some unnecessary sponsors with some comedic adverts. The way i will do this is by making up my own products and selling lines, along with using different voices in each different advert.

Key Personal and Resources

For my podcast, I need people who have an expressive voice, that can either elevate emotion or use a convincing/ demanding voice that will share the news and topics that are going to be discussed in the podcast. Also, I need people who know how to portray comedy, as some scenes need to keep the audience entertained. The resources I need to bring this podcast to life, is something to record on (Smartphone speaker), then I need to use an app that will be used for the music such as BandLab. Next I will use the Adobe Platforms in UTC to help form everything together into the podcast which will then be later published onto YouTube for my audience to listen to.

Music

For the creation of my music, I will use BandLab, as I can use samples of copyright free music, and transform it into my own way. This allows me to create my own sounds for my podcast without having to download what someone else has created.
